June 2017 – Look for Barbara's new article, "Internal Bench-marking: Take a Look in the Mirror" in the July issue of Parking Today magazine!

May 2017 – At the IPI's Parking Conference and Expo in New Orleans, CMA's Barbara Chance and Joe Sciulli, CAPP, were joined by University of Connecticut Director of Logistics Administration Bill Wendt in delivering the presentation "There's No Master in that Plan". The trio offered guidance in how parking and transportation professionals can prepare for a coming Master Plan and how to participate effectively in the planning process. But if all else fails and bad recommendations result, “clean-up” strategies were offered for ensuring operationally effective and fiscally sound solutions.

March 2017 – CMA presented three seminars at the Parking Industry Exhibition (PIE) in Chicago. They included: “Big Info from Little Data”, with Gary Means, Executive Director of the Lexington & Fayette County Parking Authority; “It’s Not Your Father’s Campus Any More – or Your Mother’s Either!”; and “Mixed Use, Shared Risk: Funding Parking in a Volatile Economy” with Ken Mills, Executive Director of the Baltimore County Revenue Authority.

February 2017 – Barbara Chance, Ph.D. and Joe Sciulli, CAPP, completed the training and were certified as Parksmart Advisors. The Parksmart program, formerly known as Green Garage Certification, is the rating system designed to advance sustainable management, programs, and design in parking facilities. It is administered by Green Business Certification, Inc. (GBCI), part of the U.S. Green Business Council. Parksmart Advisors lead clients through the certification process for their parking facilities.

October 2016 – Lafayette College is proposing to construct a Mixed-Use Housing Project adjacent to the College in Easton, PA. The project would include student residence halls, a campus store, a diner, and a wellness center. CMA was retained by the College to develop parking solutions and assist with the approval processes necessary to build the project.

October 2016 – As part of an architectural team, CMA was retained by a confidential government department to provide parking management design consultation.

August 2016 – CMA’s team was selected by the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA) to perform an Assessment of Off-Street Parking Operations. The project included preparation of a new parking operator Request for Proposals, as well as a Parking Operations and Facilities Management Agreement to be used in the procurement of a parking operator for COTPA’s five garages and multiple surface lots.

June 2016 – CMA is pleased to announce the addition of Vincent Paul Mowad as a Business Analyst. With a B.S. from La Salle University in Business Systems Analytics as well as Integrated Science, Business and Technology, Vince will be supporting all phases of CMA’s parking and transportation projects with a special focus on financial analysis and process improvements at the intersection of technology and operations.

June 2016 – CMA is pleased to be returning to Lafayette College to update the Parking and Transportation Master Plan. Driving the need for the new plan will be the construction of new housing, the Integrated Science Center, and other department movements on and off campus.

May 2016 – CMA completed a Parking Management Plan for East Stroudsburg University as part of the approval process for the Keystone Center project and new residence halls on campus. ESU is one of the 14 institutions in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

April 2016 – CMA was selected through a competitive process to develop a long term strategy for parking operations for Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburg, PA. The project has a special focus on technological solutions for optimizing use of the University’s parking resources.

April 2016 – Under its on-call contract with the University of Connecticut, CMA is preparing a parking and transportation infrastructure short-term capital plan to meet the objectives of the campus Master Plan. This project comprises reviewing options for the management of parking and transportation, confirming population and parking inventory over the years covered by the Master Plan, and preparing a capital plan that will include NextGenCT funds as well as those generated by the Parking and Transportation units of the Logistics Department.

November 2015 – Accredited Parking Organization (APO): Barbara Chance, Ph.D. and Joe Sciulli, CAPP, completed the International Parking Institute’s first APO site reviewer training program. The firm is now available to assist with helping municipal and institutional parking organizations prepare for accreditation, or to perform the APO certification on behalf of IPI.

September 2015 – Temple University is planning a new football stadium on campus. Parking and transportation to Temple for the games are critical issues being addressed in the various planning phases. CMA was pleased to work with Temple on these issues, after being part of the Master Plan team for the large, Philadelphia campus.

May 2015 – With CAPP in Hand: CMA is pleased to announce that Vice President and Senior Operations Consultant Joseph P. (Joe) Sciulli has successfully completed all requirements of the IPI’s Certified Administrator of Public Parking (CAPP) program. As Joe said, it only took 30 years in parking, a 3-hour test and a “3-day recovery period from it” to earn this most valued accreditation!

February 2015 – CMA is delighted to announce the addition of Thomas M. Hastings, AICP, to its consultant family. Thomas comes to CMA with experience as an environmental, transportation, and urban planner.

December 2014 – Parking Valuation: CMA has been retained by the Board of Directors of an LLC to prepare a market analysis and valuations of multiple large garages.

December 2014 – Garage Feasibility: A private development and property management firm has retained CMA to provide research and financial feasibility services for two garages that may be constructed in conjunction with transportation system improvements on the East Coast.

November 2014 – Parking Management: CMA has updated the Parking Management Plan for East Stroudsburg University, which is moving into the planning stages for construction of a new student center, library, and additional on-campus housing.

October 2014 – Access Strategies: CMA is a member of the team selected by Montgomery County, PA, to provide an Asset Strategy and Project Management Services for County Complex in Norristown, PA. CMA will focus on the parking and access management for employees, the Court and jurors, and visitors to the complex.

October 2014 – Professional Education: “Losing Rodney Dangerfield: A Transformational Trend” was the presentation delivered by Barbara Chance to the New York State Parking Association’s conference. Barbara’s talk focused on how parking professionals are working to increase “respect” for the industry and its role in the economy and daily life.

October 2014 – Parking Management: Dartmouth University has asked CMA to work with it to prepare a Parking Improvement Strategy that will provide a way forward for parking and transportation, taking into consideration the recently completed Master Plan.

August 2014 – Travel Service Management: For a large financial services company, CMA is preparing a Travel Services Sourcing Strategy and RFP for partners/vendors. The company spends in excess of $20 million annually on travel services, and it wants to enhance the value of that spend as well as ensuring that levels of service match the varied needs of the departments.

August 2014 – Special Events: CMA assisted Villanova University with the approval process for a mixed use development of resident housing, related retail, a Performing Arts Center, and a parking garage. A strategy for the distribution of special event traffic and parking was prepared, and CMA testimony explained it to Township representatives.
