Independence Mall Bus Management Strategy

Recognizing the need for adequate and coordinated planning,interested parties in the Mall’s future, including the National Park Service and the City of Philadelphia, formed a working group to discusses issues associated with new development.Chief among these was the additional tour bus traffic that would be attracted to the Mall area.The working group retained CHANCE Management Advisors,Inc. The City’s unique on-street parking environment features around-the-clock enforcement,nine residential parking areas, resident-only and twohour timed parking restrictions covering both daytime and overnight hours, and over 2,000 metered parking spaces in commercial and entertainment districts. Connecticut Department of Transportation

Rail Stations Operations Review

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CDOT) owns the majority of the train stations on the New Haven main line, but leases the stations and their parking facilities, at no cost, to the municipalities in which they are located. A variety of parking policies and fees have resulted from this and CDOT sought to determine whether changes were necessary in the way Connecticut’s commuter rail stations and parking were governed in order to improve service and operations. As part of the team retained to evaluate the New Haven Line stations and parking facilities, CMA conducted a review of how the towns were managing, operating, and funding the stations and parking operations.
